YOUTH AWARDS

OUR YOUNGEST ATHLETES ACHIEVEMENTS

Last May, the 2023 Youth Awards were held at the Orakei Bay Events Venue. It was an afternoon of celebration and recognition of the achievements of our youngest athletes to share with our community.

Lexyan Kulatea-Ryan

Congratulations Lexyan Kulatea-Ryan!

Lexyan is the definition of spirit in the youth space for Disability Sport Auckland. Every programme that Lexyan attends, he is positive, confident, encourages others, and is always welcoming of those who are trying something for the first time.

JADEN MOVOLD

Introducing... 2023 LEADERSHIP AWARD WINNER

Congratulations Jaden Movold!

Jaden has been involved with Disability Sport Auckland for as long as possible. Over the past year, Jaden has stepped up to support the coaching of our Athletics programme. He has built relationships with our participants and families, which has brought out epic results for our youth. He is a positive leader whom many of our youth participants look up to as someone they want to be like in the future.

Joshua Parkinson

Introducing... 2023 MOST IMPROVED AWARD WINNER

Congratulations Joshua Parkinson!

Joshua has improved tremendously over the past year in all of his sports including Athletics, Swimming, Boccia & Rock Climbing. Joshua has displayed patience and has listened closely to his coaches for feedback and taken it on board

Elliot Berry

Introducing... 2023 ALL-ROUND PARTICIPATION AWARD WINNER

Congratulations Elliot Berry!

Whenever there is a new activity to try, Elliot will be there. Elliot gives everything a go, with 100% always. He has made plenty of friends since joining Disability Sport Auckland, which has helped to improve his confidence, especially in the sports that he once felt nervous about trying. We have loved seeing Elliot become his own person through sport.

Ryan Nikoro

Introducing... 2023 HALBERG GAMES MVP MALE AWARD WINNER

Congratulations Ryan Nikoro!

Ryan from the 2023 Halberg Games, is a completely different Ryan from previous games. Ryan was willing to try new sports – including the massive 400m run during the athletics. Despite being one of the smallest at the games, he didn’t let that stop him – he gave everything a go, displayed awesome sportsmanship and grew with confidence.

Daelani Marsters

Introducing... 2023 HALBERG GAMES MVP FEMALE AWARD WINNER

Congratulations Daelani Marsters!

Daelani is one of DSA’s quietest members but has shown huge promise in both swimming and athletics. This year, Daelani shone as one of only a handful of senior swimmers, finishing with awesome times and often in the top 3 for every race. For Athletics, she ran with a new Guide runner for the first time in a couple of years and supported many other blind/low vision participants out on the track – including the girl gang race for the 100m (a race of only blind/low vision girls including guide runners).
